Kinnie Launches in Ghana, Marking Its First Production in Africa

Acadia Industries Limited has reached another significant milestone with the launch of local production of Kinnie in Ghana, marking the iconic Maltese soft drink brand’s first manufacturing footprint on the African continent.

The development follows a strategic franchise partnership between Acadia Industries Limited and Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, the Malta-based producer behind Kinnie. The partnership brings together Kinnie’s long-standing beverage heritage with Acadia Industries’ manufacturing capabilities and knowledge of the Ghanaian market.

A Historic Step for Kinnie in Africa

Kinnie is one of Malta’s most recognisable soft drinks, known for its distinctive bittersweet flavour created from a blend of citrus and aromatic herbs.

Through the partnership, Kinnie is now being produced locally in Ghana using the brand’s established recipe and quality standards. Ghana therefore becomes Kinnie’s first manufacturing location in Africa—an important step in the brand’s international expansion.

For Acadia Industries, the collaboration further demonstrates the company’s ability to work with established international beverage brands and manufacture products locally to global brand requirements.

Building International Partnerships Through Local Manufacturing

Under the franchise arrangement, production and distribution activities in Ghana are undertaken locally, with ongoing support from Simonds Farsons Cisk in Malta.

The partnership is also an investment in local manufacturing capability. By producing Kinnie in Ghana rather than relying solely on imported finished products, the collaboration combines international beverage expertise with local production and market knowledge.

Acadia Industries Managing Director Fouad Moufarrej described the collaboration as bringing together Mediterranean heritage and African dynamism, while introducing Ghanaian consumers to a beverage that is distinctly different from many traditional soft drinks available in the market.

Ghana as a Gateway for Future Growth

The Ghana launch forms part of a wider international strategy for Kinnie.

Simonds Farsons Cisk has indicated its intention to grow the brand’s presence in additional African markets, including markets across West and East Africa.

For Acadia Industries, the partnership reinforces a broader ambition: to position Ghana as a competitive manufacturing base for international beverage brands seeking local production, co-packing and access to the West African market.

Acadia Industries continues to invest in the capabilities, partnerships and operational expertise required to support international and local beverage brands through manufacturing, co-packing and distribution.

A New Chapter for Acadia and Kinnie

The arrival of Kinnie in Ghana represents more than the addition of another beverage to the local market.

It demonstrates what can be achieved when an established international brand combines its heritage, product expertise and quality standards with a capable Ghanaian manufacturing partner.

For Kinnie, Ghana marks its first manufacturing presence in Africa.

For Acadia Industries, it is another important step towards becoming a trusted manufacturing and co-packing partner for beverage brands seeking growth in Ghana and across West Africa.
